ok finally posting something new since coming here.every year i make something for all the ladies in our accounting and reception. i hate giving gift cards because it's so impersonal and says, i really dont want to take the time to bother doing more. this year it's potpourri jars which i included 6 packs of potpourri. the lids are made from pewter that i got from peachtree woodworking.the one in pic 2 and 5 are made from mahogany and birch. pic 3,4 and 6 are made from silver maple. the black lines were simply burned in with a wire.the finish was one coat of general finishes arm r seal semi gloss and several coats of semi gloss rattle can lacquer. the bottoms are covered with rubber drawer liner.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

I'm sure they would like something like this. If you start now......

Figuring out how to do something you have never done is what makes a good challenge.

already did that bent !

Oh,  I didn't see them.
You wouldn't want to repeat it.
I'll find something else easy for you to do.

Must be tough always coming up with something equal or better than last year. You're setting yourself up for failure to produce and "getting lazy" in the eyes of the staff!

So those lids are always open to the potpourri?

Nice "I like you and appreciate all you do, but don't read too much into this" gift. Well executed as always!
Nice gifts pottz.

I like the look of them - the grain in that silver maple looks cool.
splint-thank you my friend. yeah the lids allow the fragrance out.

mike-thanks man. one chunk of the maple had some inhabitants and became firewood !

Nice gifts!  Is the pewder insert held in place or does it rest in the lip of the container?  I like that they are all the same...but different.
Those are really nice! Well done!

Wuz goona say, "nice scrolling"... would've been hard to turn that detail.

They look good.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

I thought you maybe made a sand form, melted and poured them yourself?
