Puzzles to keep the kids busy till Santa Arrives

Easy to make puzzle, harder to solve.   Stepping on the Duck's flippers a bit.

Construction starts with 1 inch diameter.    I cut a 30 degree angle on the end.

Using the backer boards on the miter saw keeps the little cut off pieces from falling into the saw blade and becoming shrapnel.

Using a small sled  bit a hold down with the angled end against the block, cut to length.   2 of each length.

The idea is to have a set with the following sizes.

If you make onemight as well make several.   Setup is the time consumer.   A small tray is then assembled to hold the puzzle.
Always give the puzzle solver one that is not finished.   To easy if they know what they are trying to do.

Made 5 gave all away this afternoon.
Try side 3/4" high and 5/8" wide.   Glued on bottom.   Rounded over the edges.
One could put a coat of finish on it.   Did not have time to wait for it to dry.

thanks ron.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Wonder what happens when a household has two, bet the parts get mixed and even the adults can solve it!

Great gift Ron! Also a gift to yourself since they are reasonably quick to make.
Nice puzzle & write-up. I might have to give these a try - especially with the plans provided.

I was actually impressed by your hand writing. I think messy people usually don't or can't write clean letters and it makes sense that your work is always detailed/so clean finish. Good job on the puzzle:)

No name noobie here

Great little puzzles Ron, and safety in the shop too. Well Done. Need to add this to the collection.

Cool puzzle 987...

Seen samples a few time elsewhere and just skipped over it... However, this has given me inspiration to churn out a few miniatures on the laser as a give away or a stocking stuffer... you left it a tad late, so next year.

With all this inundation of puzzle, pottzy might think his viagra supply has arrived.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Thanks for the comments.    Did a few of LBD's dice puzzles as well.   Big hit.   Always fun to give away Christmas or any other time.

Ron

I need to have some of those types of puzzles around for when the grandkids visit. Small ones that are a little challenging.

Just make sure they are not mouth size.  Not having grand kids, something I often forget.

So true, everything goes in the mouth.
