I haven't posted any woodworking lately, so here is a simple project. The new house we moved into was missing hand rails on the steps to the split level kitchen/living room.
I decided to use a piece of cherry and follow the grain. The primary cut was completed with the band saw, then formed with the spoke shave and draw knife.
Being rough sawn, they were planed on the flat side with a #408 vbm.
When we were moving I realized I couldn't find my stud finder, so I ordered a new one. What a piece of crap! I wound up going back to the "tap with a hammer and listen for the stud". That was far more accurate.
Nice looking rail Don. I threw away my stud finder because of the inaccuracy. Instead, I now use the StudPop which is magnetic and locates nails or screws and hangs onto the screw with the magnet. Here is one source.
