Oak desk

This is a desk I made for my wife 10 or so years ago. I reclaimed the wood from an old building (100 plus years old). It is 1-1/2” thick tongue and groove oak. I drilled holes through it and used threaded rod to keep it together. The base is threaded black pipe.
Has a nice industrial look to it, and sturdy. Well done.

wow love the look of that top, so much patina !

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Excellent job preserving that wood! Still looks 100 years old.

I like the pipe base. Slightly spindly looking but has the right style to go with that top. You even added extra joints to enhance the industrial look Eric mentioned.
Fits well into it's setting too. 👍
Thanks Eric! It was a fun project.

Whatever was on it was really thick Pottz. It was installed on the wall in a loading dock so over the years I’m sure they kept adding layers as it got beat up. Those nicks made it easy to save the patina!

SG thank you. I actually had the wood on the shelf for 8 years or so before this project. I really liked it and wanted to create something that did it justice, I feel like I did.

My boss still owns the building this came from and there is more so hopefully I’ll be able to talk him into letting me salvage the rest!
