A Couple VW Baja Bugs with wide wheels ....

I needed to attend to the "hood lining" on my XR6 Falcon and was recommended a local Penrith business "Top Stitch Motor Trimmer".
Top Stitch Motor Trim | Sydney NSW

Dave the owner & I hit it off, both being car enthusiasts, he especially VW's!

I ordered the repairs/replacement of my "hood lining" at a very reasonable price and thought, I need to say THANK YOU, in my usual way..

So I made him and his little daughter a VW Baja Bug.....

A fun toy build for me for sure.

Cheers Peter.

Handy Smurf and Papa Smurf also had a ball helping on the build especially doing the wide wheels!!

I gave Dave the larger of the two but also gave him another car for play...

Well done Peter, and Smurf approved. A great way to say thanks, The last photo has a good looking style too.

Great thank you gifts.  Love the wide tires!
Nice, Peter! And hopefully your hood is now properly lined, too!

May you have the day you deserve!

Love those wheels!  Ready for a day in the sand dunes of the Baja, eh?   Love 'em.  How about a bit more info on the materials.  I know the topic "Aussie Hardwoods" but what exactly does that mean.  The wheels remind me of cedar in color and texture.
Vhaaa Vooom over the sand we go!  Great cars.

Dave, there are 2 timbers in this toy. Sides are Cypress Pine flooring offcuts with the centre Sydney Blue Gum offcuts. The wheels are Red Gum. Shop bought axle pegs and furniture buttons for lights. The finish is my homemade WipeOnPoly, 3 coats.

What a lovely gesture and such quality work. Nice job Pete

Kerry - Working with wood, the smell the feel, is such a joy, its a meditation of sorts.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Thank you ladies and gentlemen for your encouragement.
Giving a simple wooden toy as a thank you means I receive a double reward in first the making and the handing over; top stuff.
