Dean at Living Timbers in Penrith had some "give away" offcuts of small Camphor Laurel slabs.

Home - Living Timber Co

They were about 30-35mm thick and big enough for serving boards, so I ripped the board in the bandsaw then put them through the thicknesser.

The best figure and colour was on the handle ends so I decided to not do a hole at that end.

Lots of sanding, filling with epoxy and Starbond CA the polishing with "Food Grade" Kustom Grit Step#1.

They came up okay and should do good.

Some great looking grains in the boards Peter, well done.

Gorgeous grain that works nicely for these serving boards.  The Smurfs are working overtime!
Nice boards Peter.

You did the polishing with "Food Grade" Kustom Grit but are you aware of recommandation of the FDA . Although the chemical of CA s minimally toxic in small amounts, the FDA does not recommend it for use on any object that comes in direct contact with food or drinks. Oops.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Good projects with the best woods are always the ones that minimize the human touch. They don't need lots of squaring up and straight edges. 👍

I'm sure that whoever ends up with one of these will be very happy.
