I didn't join the box swap but I happened to make a box at this timing...
I don't know I felt being able to cut a dovetail joint is kind of a requirement/criteria of hand tool woodworking so I recently practiced a dovetail joint and now it is time to practice a miter dovetail joint (I was asked if I can cut it a couple of times in person so....).
I think I did okay for this.
And few weeks(or months?) ago, I saw people were playing with a lazer thing here and I wanted it to print my logo thing on wood. However, I wasn't sure how often I would use it and I couldn't decide which one to go with(good one or cheepo) so I ended up buying a branding iron to see how it goes.
Ron, Thank you. I'm getting a little bit confident!
Eric, My project was done before your blog showing your creative handle style and I was like oh I should've put a little more effort on mine... haha! Thank you for showing the plug technique, too!
Thanks James! Yes, I sanded the surface but still... but it's okay:)
As for chisel, I usually use normal western chisels(Irwin/Narex) but I just happened to get a reasonably priced Japanese chisel that actually worked well! It's made out of Japanese shirogami steel no2, which is often used by a good end chisel there.
Getting them right once like this tells you that you can get them right, though. That’s an important step, and with each box you make using dovetails, the amount of extra attention needed will decrease.
