photo light storage box

well finally got tired of jerry rigging photo light setups so i decided to but some led lights with adjustable stands and make a storage box to hold them. also created a backdrop set up rather than my usual staple a blanket to the cabinet doors.this box was done the same as my laser box with cherry ply and hardwood. i used bisquits to assemble the main box. the top has small dominos to join the corners. dividers are made from baltic birch. brass hinges and pretty blue plastic handles. bottom is lined with drawer liner. name was engraved with the rockler sign making kit. rubber feet. the emblem below was done on the new laser and slightly inset with a forstner bit. finish GF arm r seal.

here is the setup. those lights also have telescoping extensions. they have changeble colored lens and and be dimmed. the frame is just pvc pipe that fits into holders. i also have a white curtain.

here is the holder that the pipe slides into. rockler knobs that attach to my t track on my assembly table. this is gonna make taking project pic's much easier.

Nice setup!

That embedded T-track really shows it's versatility with this.

I just have a small photo booth with interchangeable backs, maybe a 2' square working area. The lights it came with....suck so I use some tripodded halogens.

The best thing is diffusing the light to avoid "hot spots".

Your setup is A+ for larger items.

Box is great! Hopefully the lights are enough wattage to cover the space.

It's all about the setup experience. If it isn't easy to set up and use, then take back down, it'll never be used.

Being able to find all the bits is nice too! 🙂
Nice setup, glade to be here

thanks splint. yeah it's super easy to setup compared to what i was doing. t track is great for an assembly bench top. ive got a few things i attach to it. the back drop curtains are 5'x 7' so good enough for medium sized projects. the nice part was everything i used to make the box and curtain hanger was scraps and leftovers from past projects.

There ya go, you're a case maker, not some itty-bitty box maker!

Really workable solution it appears.    Thinking of coping your backdrop frame only using the dog holes in the workbench.   Thanks for the push to get me going.

Ron

thanks ron. yeah the dog holes would probably work quite well.

Nice set up buddy.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

The box looks great, and you are in the mode to make a box for everything in your shop now, and create the labels for each one Pottz. Well done.

Ok, a challenge then for all of those boxes you need, make them by hand with hand tools.
