laser storage box

just got a new toy, laser made neje. well it needed a safe place to be stored when not in use so i made a box. totally from leftovers. cherry ply and hardwood, melamine and cherry lid which will also serve as the platform when in use. i routed grooves that the stand fits in so it cant slide around. even the hinge and wire pulls are leftovers. rubber feet. finish is just one coat of arm r seal. bottom lined with rubber drawer liner.

I had a small chuckle when my mind conjured up a scenario where "laser storage box" allows you to "store the lasers" (as-in the beams) for later use. Of course that's ludicrous, but this box surely is not -- nice work. The handle and top recess are a very nice touch. I'm also digging those mitered corners on the top frame over the white backer.
thanks dev. if it were possible to store a laser beam wood probably would not be the choice huh 😂

Nice Pottz, a great storage solution, and way to keep it safe while not in use. And keeping the dust off it. Like the corner details on that too. Well done.

Nice box pottzy... is that melamine replaceable, or have you discovered an immunity to oopsies?

But a laser?  I bought my laser 14 years ago, my 3D printer 10 years ago, soon yazall will be buying only Fe$tool.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

only festool ducks ? i think not my feathered friend. 3d printer probably not any time soon.

Wow Pottz, very nice box considering for storage. But then again, why can't a shop box look good. Nice buddy!
Good idea for making storage for that, they are rather delicate and easy to let get buried in dust.

Using the box as an operating platform is also killer, you can burn in a grid so placing and marking your items is a snap.
ron-thats what im told. but all i want it for is engraving names, logos etc ! i think ?
jeff-yeah why not. ive seen many guys made fun of because their shop cabinets are too fancy ! and those are the guys that everyone oooh's and ahhh's over their projects.
splint-yeah it's not a tool that can take a lot of shop abuse. this one has a preview feature that once you set you size the laser will trace out the outline of the burn pattern until you turn it off. but i may still draw a center point just to make alignment easier. i like that you can do everything on your cell phone. take a pic and the laser will burn it. ive just started learning how to use it.
