Salt & Pepper with Napkin Holder & Toothpick Holder

This is a second round of this project. I had a request for one, so made 3.

Mills were purchased from PSI, Pepper is done in Cherry, Salt is done in Maple, the base and Napkin Holder is Pecan and the little Toothpick Holder is Bloodwood. Finished with Danish Oil followed by multiple coats of Minwax Wipe on Poly.

I milled up the stock for the Napkin Holder for the thickness just over 1/4" and glued up the panel from 3 narrow boards. Cut a grove in the base for a mortise, and created a matching tenon on the panels. Used a fostner bit to drill the holes to hold the accessories. I did not want to glue up blanks for the mills, so it was Cherry and Maple, both of which were 8/4 stock on hand.

Fun little project and adding to a stockpile of projects.

Thanks for looking and commments are always welcome and appreciated.

Sweet looking dining table caddies, really like that wood grain.
Eric,

Thanks for posting.

I must order from PSI!

Petey

Pottz, thanks. That is where I got the idea, the reason we share Our projects.

LBD, thanks. Complement taken well, time to reorder stock.

Ivan, thanks. And a useful set to have on the table.

OldTool, thanks. The Pecan does have a good-looking grain, just takes a bit to fill.

Petey, thanks. As a set they work out well, and an easy project to create. Just the grinders would make a nice set with a base. The other parts were just an extra.

Great project.  Sets like this make perfect gifts!
Kenny, thanks. I gave one to my sister this past Christmas, reason for the additional ones. I like the grinder mechanism on these.

Such a great project and well executed....

Mike

Your very busy making cool projects. Gotta check out PSI.

I like how you drilled holes to keep the salt and pepper mills in place.

James McIntyre

Moke, thanks.

James, thanks. This semi-retired thing is nice giving me more shop time. the base of the mils are just over 1" dia and needed something to hold them in place.
