Potpourri Bowls

Potpourri Bowls, 3-1/2" Dia x 3" high. The lids were purchased from PSI, the last 2 were turned before Christmas, (don't remember the wood). Of the first 2, one is Maple, the other is Wenge and Ash creating a brick wall. All were finished with Danish Oil and Howard's Feed and Wax buffed out.

The segment bowl is made up 10 pieces of Wenge which had a piece of Ash glued to each side prior to cutting the wedge. then thin strips of Ash glued in between, the bottom had 8 pieces. A total of 78 pieces in this small bowl. Since I was turning long grain the Wenge was not that bad.

Thanks for looking and comments are always welcome and appreciated.

Those look great! Nicely done.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Ryan, thanks. I had to have a go at the brick wall again. The grain in the Wenge really popped.

You made "stinky pots" as a young lad called one I made for his sister years ago.   Yours looks great.

Ron

Pottz, thanks. Yes, they will make some nice gifts, getting a head start this year.

Ivan, thanks. Lots of glue up in the segments, but the outcome is worth it.

OldTool, thanks. trying to get more lathe time, that Maple one gave me a few fits getting the end grain sanded out.

Petey, thanks. Gifts or Craft Shows, think they would sell.

Ron, thanks. "Stinky Pots" never heard that term about them but makes sense.

Excellent Eric!  Love the brick pattern 😎
Kenny, thanks. I was thinking a keepsake box would look cool too. just getting the bricks to line up properly would be the trick.

Turned out nice Eric - still a cool effect that brick wall.
Mike, thanks. The brick is appealing, thinking about a box now.

Not trying a hex box with hex bricks? :)

I wouldn't myself - but you can inlay the mortar on the panels.
Nice work, Eric!!

Mike, not at the moment, but that would be cool if I can get the proportions correct around the corners.

Jim, thanks. Always like lathe work, quick projects for the most part.

Nice job Eric, I really like the pattern you get with the way you glued up the wood before cutting the wedges. I need to try that out, thanks for teaching me something new.

Have to appreciate the foresight of making extras for later!
