Fibonacci Gauge -

Needed a diversion from other stuff and kept seeing the Fibonacci Gauge and Wood magazine had a pattern so I thought I'd give it a whirl.
I made a couple out of 1/8" Purpleheart and Hard Maple.  1/4" split nuts with a nice pattern, made of brass.

I made a jig to drill all the holes and a pattern to mark the shapes.

The pieces

An example from the internet and mine.

That's about it, thanks for looking.

Nice Dave, a great job and the buttons looks really nice, a refined tool. I have one of those on my build list.

Main Street to the Mountains

Thanks Jim

Thanks Eric, I think a set of 10 set me back all of $5, worth it to dress em up!  :-)

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

A golden ratio jig?  Pretty cool.

And you probably had the material sitting in the shop like most of us.

Main Street to the Mountains

Thanks Petey.

Eric, yes, just scraps, I have some more of those binder screws coming and am going to make some more out of Walnut and cherry.

Nice work on the handy little tool, should come in handy on many projects.
Thank You Oldtool, I am looking forward to using it!

Very nice, lots easier than a calculator for small project's.  A golden rule for the golden rule!

Nice tools!

Makes it easy to get those golden proportions when one is just cutting something to a random width and want the other dimension to "look good"
Thank you Tim and Splinter, I have to learn more about how to use one now.
I would like to have a larger one too.

Very well constructed!

Now if you take your gauge and wander around your house checking stuff you will find some very surprising facts, all of which you may have taken for granted and never realised before.

A bit of trivia to ponder:-
Fibonacci ... his name was actually Leonardo Bonacci
and as usual he was given a nick name, now its obvious part of his surname was used and  he became known a Fibonacci world wide and still is today... Italian of course.

Now we have William nicknamed Bill  and Robert as Bob absolutely no relationship whatsoever.
However along comes Albert, ... AKA Al,  as in Al Yankovic  definitely not Italian!... that's for sure, and there is Bert as in Bert Munroe The fastest Indian, who was actually a Kiwi, all having a reasonable relationship with the original name.

go figure!
