Tumbling Block Ladder

This started as a challenge from Steveinmarin on Lumberjocks some years ago. I finished this ladder the night the challenge came out but did not win because I could not load my video . I have since had to put all the videos from my camera on You Tube first.

This is a ladder with a flipper block  that tumbles all the way to the bottom. It worked after 3 attempts on the flipper. I started by drilling 11 holes in each of the sides of the ladder then I glued in 1/4 round dowels leaving a 1" wide space between the sides. To make the rungs flat, I ran the ladder through the router table to get the rungs all in a line and at 1/8" wide. I put two dowels in the ends and mounted it on a base.
The ladder is cedar and the flipper is rubber tree wood because it is heavier.

I added Steve's picture to both side of the flipper block initially. Since them I changed the photos on the block to McKinlee when she was a baby . She and Mylah have spent a lot of time playing with this ladder.
The video of it running is in the first comment because it would not load into the project!
I added a few process shots that I saved while making it...
Cheers, Jim

Cool project Jim, and a nice little video showing how it works. Well done. Might have to copy this for the grandkids.

I hope your grand daughter didnt perk on the carpet by the time she got to the bottom! I bet Steve would have.
If its any consolation I am still yet to master doing videos!

Regards Rob

Looks like fun!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Really slick little toy, should keep kids occupied for hours.
Jim, I remember that video from him. Never did get around to making one though. Love the idea of the router to smooth rungs.

Thank you all for the nice comments. I still have to put my videos from my camera onto you Tube in order to use them like this. I still have a flip phone and I don't know what to do with videos  on it!!

Would I find it on youtube???

Thanks, Cliff. Yes I did the video on You Tube because that is the only way I can post them here or send them to anyone. Seems my Nikon camera videos can only be used that way.
