Beerbq swap 2023

Ok, so I had a blast in my first swap eve, of any kind on this site or the other, the beerbq swap 2023.  Kenny was a fantastic host, Pottz kept things colorful and there was plenty of supporting cast to keep things interesting.

So …on to the projects.

I made this beerbq tote out of a piece of reclaimed oak barn board. The dividers are adjustable, to provide multiple configurations, whether for a 6 pack of beer or for transport of bbq goodies. (The beers shown served as visual only)

As a bonus item, I designed and  built this toothpick dispenser, for round wood toothpicks. Whether picking great bbq out of your teeth or olives or cheese from the charcuterie, everyone can use a tooth pick from time to time.

Maple and walnut.

I included a bottle cap opener

And milled up some Spalted maple pen blanks to send ( after I learned my recipient was a pen turner)

There was a plethora of fantastic wood work to a caliber that was somewhat intimidating but everyone mad me feel welcome and comfortable so I would encourage a swap to everyone. Great fun . Looking forward to next year.

Excellent work Dan!  The tote is highly configurable and useful and the ‘pick holder is especially neat IMO.  Great job with the designs and craftsmanship.  You were a welcome addition to the gang this year and I hope you continue to join us in the future!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Glad you chose to joins us Dan, you started off with a very nice package, I, like Kenny, am enamored of the toothpick dispenser, love them. The configurable tote is way cool, and an old piece of barnage wood adds a great touch. Awesome start, hope to see you in more swaps down the road.
Thanks all. I’m enjoying looking through all the great projects, and look forward to shamelessly stealing ideas for the next swap.

Pottz, Friday night quick trigger. Couldn’t figure out how to remove the repeat.
Excellent projects Dan. An adjustable tote makes it so much more useful. And that toothpick holder is perfect!
Thanks Steve. The toothpick dispenser was something I’ve wanted to figure out . The swap gave me a reason.
Cool design Dan. How do the dividers adjust? I can see one additional notch I think.
I like the toothpick dispenser.

Duck, there’s the additional slot in the long center divider, and there is an extra divider on each end to use in the additional slot. Everything is just interlocking slots.  I suppose one could have any number of slots in the long divider, but just adding the center slot allowed for squeeze bottles of ketchup and mustard
Nice looking tote! Love Sam Adams Boston Lager, myself.
