A commission piece for a couple who meandered into the gallery the day they had to put their faithful companion down. They asked that I use some oak that was left over from building their home 40 years ago. Mitered corners with Purple Heart splines.
I
Finished with Golden Oak stain, a couple coats of clear shellac and several coats of paste wax.
Laser engraved top per clients instructions. Bottom is fastened with brass screws.

The outside dimensions are 7-1/2” x 6-1/4” x 5-1/4” . Inside dimensions accommodate the metal box of cremations they received.

Nicely done. It will be cherished.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

This turned out so nice.  I like the top inscription.  Wonderful job.
Thanks Ryan. Just delivered and they were pleased.
Thanks Bb1, the client had an idea of  what they wanted on the messaging, finally landed on this. The engraving is more clear than the pics show, but getting it to pop on the oak was a challenge. Actually engraved it once and then planed it off.
Nicely done Dan, very attractive.

Petey

awsum and Petey, appreciate your comments. I don’t normally  do commission work so this was challenging in not really knowing what the customer was looking for aesthetically and because of what it was.  Client is very appreciative of the result.
