This is project that I started a few years ago, then put on hold.  I got around to finishing it lately.  Seat is ambrosia maple, legs and arm bow is red oak, leg stretchers are white oak, arm bow spindles are cherry.

That's a beauty Bondo, fine work!

I'm not brave enough to try any chair, too many parts which must function as one.
You are a brave and talented individual!
real nice chair work bondo. nice combo of woods. love ambrosia.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Nicely done! Can you elaborate one the steps a bit? Tools used? Anything special or difficult with the build? How about the finish?

Beautiful chair.    Love the design.      Great workmanship.

Nice work, Bondo. Looks like the legs are a little long for the height of the arms, but that might just be the angle of the photos.

May you have the day you deserve!

You're right Dave the legs are a little bit long.  I left them that way on purpose.  I decided that I wanted to sit in it for a while before I decide on a final length.  The finish is Tried and True original varnish.

The special tools I used were Veritas tapered tenon cutter with matching reamer.  I made tapered tenons for the legs because I like the idea that every time you sit in the chair the tenons get tighter.  The other special tool that I used was a 16" long 5/8" electrician's spade bit.  That was for drilling the holes for the armbow spindles.  That was by far the scariest part of the project.  I envisioned turning the whole thing into firewood, because you have to do it by eye.  There is eight spindles and 16 holes all drilled at odd angles and they have to line up.  I did use a scorp for hollowing out the seat.  I found a used one on ebay for reasonable.
