Okay, this project somewhat maimed me - but it didn't kill me. Eventually, I was bound to pay for my stupidity and grazed my fingers across my router during an ill-fated attempt to correct some poor jigsaw cuts. Alas, it required no stitches, although I did go to urgent care to get a second opinion and the nurse irrigated the wounds. It would have been a six-hour wait to get a Doctor to look at three fingers that took the damage so I said thanks for the second opinion and went home. Needless to say, I won't make that mistake again. (fingers crossed)
I tried several jigs and will post pics of the jig that I used soon. The barrel hinges were very difficult. The name turned out easier to do freehand with my router than I thought. Sourcing materials was a bit of a pain. I was surprised the cherry cracked so much. I used some CA glue to deal with the cracks and hopefully, more won't appear.
Cherry that was resawed on the bandsaw, planed to 3/4" thickness, and then placed in the jig and I used a pattern bit in the router to remove a bit more than 1/2" of material. As usual, I learned a great bit. Finished in Odies Oil.
