Porthole wall sculpture

This is part of my porthole series, where I create colors and patterns on metal using different chemicals.  In a sense, painting with chemical reactions.

The ring is made of Wenge and accented with Paduk; the disc is steel patinated with various chemical reactions and sealed in with a clear satin coat.

The sculpture hangs on a small wooden Fremch cleat.

21″ Tall

16 1/2″ Wide

1 5/8″ Deep

very cool brian. i always learn something from watching your videos. the the tape trick is a great way to do that glue up. i also always wanted to try doing a patina on metal. i loved watching david marks do it, he did some real cool stuff.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Looks great!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Very nice combination of arts.

I like it.  I'm going to have to watch the video more closely and give this a try.  I'd much rather make wall decor like this than spend a fortune on nice stuff or have the wife buy cheap garbage to put on the wall.
