knife swap projects 2022

the woodguy posted a knife he made from an old saw blade and it reminded me of the one i made on LJ'S. this is a knife i made for the 2022 knife swap on that other forum. it was given to (eric the loft) the blade i got from rockler. the handle is made from snakewood with mosaic pins. i made the box out of bubinga with maple splines and a leopard wood top. i cut his monogram in with a router using rockler sign making templates. the blade came with a nylon sheath. the odd curved knife i cut out of an old carbide blade and shaped and ground. the wood for the handle and stand are mohogany. handle is attached with mosaic pins. i did not heat treat the blade because i think it is more of a decor piece than something of practical use. well unless your OJ simpson ! i dont have anymore pic's because well, i got banned before the swap ended ! but i did deliver on time.🤣😎

Check your State laws but where I'm at spring assisted knives are legal to carry. There's some nice ones out there.

Those are nice buddy!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Looks like you have enough photos. They look great. The lettering on top looks professional.

You could ask someone who has  access to the LJ to take some screen shots and text or email you.

I was wondering what inspired you to make that curved shaped massager. It looks cool like a Steely Dan. And that stand. It look so, As long as it doesn't vibrate we’ll be fine. What’s it used for?

It does look like a modern era sculpture.

thanks bud it was your post that reminded me of this. actually this is all there is on lj's. oh i have access, they just dont know it 🤣.
i copied the picks off of eric's post on the swap. i never saved my pic's.

the crazy knife was something i saw someone else on LJ'S do before and thought, how cool ! so when this swap came up i knew i had to do one. as for use, id say more of a man cave decor thing ?

How did you cut the saw blade?
It's either guns of knives with you guys.

It's nice to see oneoyuz get into comedy... reminds me of

Chad Morgan.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

That second hoosananny would be perfect for the wife. I'm always asked to cut the tape on her mail order boxes.
Of course it'd be a bit more lethal when thrown at me versus the usual slobber saturated dog squeaky toy 🤔

Some finely crafted cutters/maulers there Pottz!
i cut it with a metal blade on a 4-1/2" grinder as close as i could then just finished it in the belt sander. .

ducks whats wrong with guns and knives ?😈  and whats with the sideways pic man !!!!!😲

We need to have a tutorial from someone...and soon....I have never thrown a way a blade with the intention of doing this, and they are stacking up!!!

Mike

Nice Job Pottz, I would love to have that knife. There are still some great folks over on lj's but it was so much better when Martin ran the show.

Maybe Kenny will do a blog entry on recycling old blades into knives?  Or one of the other metal guys 🤘🏼 🎸

Moke will step up into that role!

Made me think of my plasma cutter I haven't used in years.
Maybe I can mount it to my laser at some point and make some sparks?
plasma cutter would be perfect to cut em out.
