Princess pens

these were a request from a co worker for his wife. these are the princess pen kit in gold. as you can see they have crystals on the center band and clip. the dark on is made with redheart and the light is lacewood. the finish is 5 heavy coats of laquer sprayed on heavy with the lathe turning on slow speed to avoid runs and drips. after curing over night they were wet sanded with micro mesh then polished on the lathe with plastic polish. i dont care for ca finishes, so this is now my go to finish method. i can do several coats in about an hour or less.

No... no... not the rattler... you'll finish up with a "princess",

with a harmless bite.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

well done   looks good

thanks guys, and gal.

Very nice!  I like the redheart!  I don't care for for CA finishes either.....I use wipe on poly.

Nice bedazzling on that hardware, makes for an attractive gift to that XX chromosome combo that is attracted to shiny bits!

Finishing on the lathe makes me think that could be a useful method for boxes, I hate having to flip them over to get all sides.
thanks guys. CA is an adhesive, not a finish to me.

I’ve had good luck with CA finish on pens. Do you guys find durability issues with it?

i just dont like the look of it. might as well just make acrylic pens ? the lacquer is just very easy. i didn't even use the micro mesh on the lacewood pen.

So it’s an aesthetics thing Pottzy? Too shiny and you prefer a more natural looking finish? I can see that.
