Push stick and holder

i made this several years ago but never posted as a project. the recent gross mutilated thumb "project" made me realize maybe i should show this. this is an easy project that can be made to suit your needs. made from scraps of oak and 1/2" baltic birch ply. this keeps the push stick as close and handy as you can get. i never hesitate to use it. if you need to look for your push stick chances are you'll say, it's only one cut ! it only takes one cut to remove a thumb or finger !!!!

Nice method of keeping it handy.

I keep several handy (including on the band saw) and use them regularly but that didn't prevent me from just nipping the tip end of my left thumb recently (it was sticking out instead of being tucked in) when I reached in to move a small cut off out of the way. I usually use the tip of the push stick but not that time. First time getting cut on the table saw.
les good point ! all it takes is one small laps of safety and your in the ER ! sometimes i just need to make one quick cut on the table saw or RAS but ive trained myself to still make sure ive got my safety glasses on, and make sure im not doing something stupid ! but it can still happen !

Whatever makes things safer! And if it’s easy to use, you’ll use it!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

and i do ! i try hard to make safety a #1 priority always. ive always have safety glasses around my neck to use when needed . the one thing im really bad at is wearing dust protection. i suck at it !

Nice set up! I like the long handle. I prefer push sticks that are at least a foot long - or longer.
I like the idea.  My safety downfall is dust protection too. I have good masks too, but find myself lacking in this area of safety.
same here plenty of all kinds of masks but rarely use em. probably because i hate using em ?

That will keep it very handy...just need to remember to replace it in the holder after use.

Essential if you value your fingers, to have a push stick. Good Idea to have it on hand all the time.
i dont like to get my digits any closer to that meat slicer than about 8-12".
