Peterson Style Bluebird House in Red Cedar

I've made several of these in the past few years as gifts for family and friends.  This one is of a design known in various Bluebird lovers' communities as a Peterson Style Nest Box.  This one is designed to be mounted on pole, and its opening and nest box cavity size is specifically tailored for what Bluebird enthusiasts find as being most desirable for attracting them.  This one is made from Eastern Red Cedar.  It also features a very large top with a 2+" overhang to keep predators from getting their paws into the nest.

Like others I've made, it also includes a separate base unit (my design) that allows the birdhouse to be easily attached and removed for cleaning/storage in the Fall.  This base unit gets attached to a pole (e.g., EMT conduit) using a pipe floor flange, and it stays on the pole permanently.  The pole, in turn, is set into the ground 18" or so, and then I like to add a bag of concrete for stability.

Another neat one.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Thanks for posting your houses,  very unique and well done.    I don't think bluebirds frequent the west coast or I'd try to make a house for them.

I believe you do have Western and Mountain Bluebirds on the West Coast, so have at it!

That is an interesting design! I might have to do that.
As to bluebirds in Washington state, Bickleton is the bluebird capital of the world.
I was unaware of the Bickleton Bluebird legacy,   looks like my kind of place.   I've never seen a bluebird around western WA,   doesn't mean they aren't nearby.
