After a long hiatus my first furniture project in about 5 years are these floating top end tables for the girlfriend. Material is walnut, m&t joinery, finished with natural danish oil and top coated with satin arm r seal.
Having watched over your shoulder as you went through these it's like I have already been here. Not that I am not impressed, just felt like I'd been here already, but it was a very pleasant journey.
I really do like a woodworker who isn't afraid to embrace the imperfections. Adding the bits of sap help make them more perfect, because they showcase all of Ma Natures best creations, and she seldom makes mistakes.
Appreciate all the feedback. Maybe its me getting older or maybe it was my time away from it, but i slowed myself down and paid attention to the grains and the little slivers of sapwood. I really enjoyed the process of it all instead of diving right into production.
When issues arose, like loose tenons, i took a step back. Nothings perfect and no ones gonna see that i used iron on edge banding to pad out the tenons 😂.
Im lookin forward to the next build. Ine of my best buddies saw it and wants to commission one. I wont take his money but i will have him buy some nice material for me to play with.
