Surprise Swap- Pen & Knife

So posting this I realized it is the first project that I have posted on this site. Really should post more or maybe transfer a few over from you know where.
Anywho, I joined in the 2024 spring Surprise Swap and was able to send off a group of projects to Eric "the Loft" In the box was a box laser cut out of Red Cedar that I got from a friend that never used it. Within that was a workshop pencil with a 5mm lead and hobby knife handle with cap. The workshop pencil is one of my favorite kits to make up and quite flexible and useful. The plunger cap unscrews and has a sharpener built in. The knife is my first attempt at this kit from Pennstate and I will certainly make more. The thing that ties these both together though is that the blanks are from the Great Dismal Swamp from old logs dredged from the bottom of the swamp. I included the certificate in the box and the picture.
In addition to these I played with the laser some more and made a 10 cent maze which was a project I made a few of on the Scroll Saw a few years ago. Came from an older Steve Ramsey video. Hope it brings some fun for the you and the Grandkids Eric.

Tony thanks for riding herd on this one. Not sure when I am going to be able to play again as something always seems to rear up in the middle of these. But look forward to following along the next one and maybe jumping in at some point.

those pencils are great, ive made a few and been gifted some. the knife i havn't seen before so ill be making some of those in the future for sure. well done swap package.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

I like the "fat body" profile, especially for the knife. I tend to have a death grip on those while using and a long session cramps my hand up when just using the 3/8" standard shaft.

Swamp wood sounds good! I have some swamp recovered oak veneer that has a striking contrast between the heart and sap woods I'm looking forward to employing someday.

Nice gift, complete with a box!
Really nice!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Nice swap pieces Clieb, like the use of the dredged up wood. I've read much about those sinkers, but haven't used one yet. Some old, 1st growth, kind of wood, something we don't see anymore.
ahhh this is called LIFE Chris i like everything you made GR8 JOB 😍😎👍

*TONY ** Reinholds* ALWAYS REMEMBER TO HAVE FUN

Good looking and would seem to be very functional tools.    Well done
