My Grooving Plane

Here's a 1/4" Grooving Plane that I made out of Spalted Maple. The center portion is Torrefied Maple. The sound and feel of it while it cuts the groove is simply unreal beautiful!! I kid you not! πŸ™‚

Looks groovy! (sorry 🀠)

Thanks guys. The weather is bad and it's hard to get into the "groove" today. 🫀
Looking good!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Groovy plane. Nice work on it. I'll bet it cuts nice too!!

Hi Jim.... yep!.... it's cuts a groove with such ease it's almost hard to believe. I made it for making boxes, picture frames, etc. But then realized I might be able toΒ use it here and there for making mouldings. Maybe make a couple more. Also I've been thinking maybe with a movable fence. The possibilities are endless. πŸ™‚
Boxes are a great application. I get kinda tired swapping out TS blades, raising up and checking the depth, and setting the fence to the standard offset just for some quick bottom-panel grooves.Β
I prefer to use a router, but I still think the planes made by others are nice tools. That said you made a great plane! Looks good and I think very useful!
