Sstorage Box/Bench

My Granddaughter ,who got married yesterday, asked me to make them a storage box that could also work as a bench in their mobile home.
It needed to be 18" x 24" high and 48" long and padded on top. This box is made from 5/8" Baltic Birch plywood and it lock mitered together on the corners. The bottom is set in a 1/4" deep rabbet cut all the way around. The handles are doweled and screwed on and the lid has gas spring closers on it. It is stained with Zar 120 teak natural stain and finished with satin poly.

I used 2" foam for the padding, vinyl upholstery material and added 8 tufting buttons. It sits on 4  2" swiveling casters.
I added some shots  below of the box in progress in the shop!
These  first 2 shots are of the rails I clamp on the piece before sending it through the lock miter bit. It ensures a straight cut all through the cut  with no collapsing of the fine edge.

Nice looking box, but the best part of making this is the time spent with your helper. Memories for you, but even better, memories for her.
Thanks, Tom...........I agree!
