Slab Fish

When we were sawing a mesquite log at the saw mill this was the second piece off and I could not throw it away because it looked so much like a fish. So that is what I made out of it. I put an eye in it and a keyhole slot in the back and coated it with clear epoxy. It will be a good decoration for  some fisherman! it is 1" x 7" x 41"

Ha!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Great example of the wood deciding what it wants to be. That’s great!
Would make a dandy place to hang lures!
Nice "catch" Jim!
My mother always said; Waste not - Want not. Guess she was right.
Thank you all for the nice comments. I've had this slab for a few years and I'm trying to clean up  potential projects to make room for new ones.
Hi Bruce, it could be fitted with hooks or drilled with a long line of tiny holes for lures..Great idea...but I'm not selling any lures with it!!......................cheers, Jim

You sold your fish? That's like selling your childhood marble collection or first teddy bear!

That said, seems your show went well, congrats!
Hi Bruce. This was a very good show. It stated slow. The lady sat on the floor and looked at that fish for a long time and then she  bought it when I told here I did not want to  take it home. I gave her a deal she could not refuse. I had it sitting under the table on a tote because it would have taken up half my table!!
