New Table for Wife

This table was started in Arizona, made the top, aprons, legs and most of the lower level.  Made the top for this table at the same time as the bigger table posted in April.  Finished it today, filled all the screw holes with walnut plugs.

Made a mistake and updated my computer the other day so it is all new to me now.  Will try and get the other pictures in comments in a day or two.  This table was a lengthy build.  Had a stroke on April 29 but had the pieces all wrapped up cuz we were going to drive back to Washington.  Had to scrap that plan, a friend said he would bring it back to The Couv.  (Vancouver)  Had great care in Arizona at Tucson Medical Center, was very fortunate with my outcome.

Finished with 4 or 5 coats of shellac and 3 coats of Poly.

Pretty square out 1/8" corner to corner at bottom of legs, top was dead on.

The Guild shop in Oregon has a new SawStop sliding table saw.  It cuts exactly square right now so got the lower level trimmed so it just fit between the legs by 1/16".

Glad to hear you are doing well Dave!
Good looking table and great you saw it through. I sometimes have a break in making larger projects and getting motivated to finish becomes very difficult for me.

Stay healthy!
oh crap dave thats not good. but sounds like you are recovering well. take it easy and do what your told my friend, we need you here for many years to come.
hey table is beautiful.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Thanks Splint and Pottz,

Yeah not good but good care and the fortunate time 6 am wife up at 6:30 off to near hospital.  Doc aspirated the clot off the top of my brain.

Did a lot of PT, Speech Therapy (verbal fluency), on blood thinners now.

But in the back of my mind knew I could still do woodworking and driving.  Waited over a month to do either.  A lot is new to me now.

Table looks great Dave! Good to hear you are doing okay.
Sorry to hear about your troubles but you built a lovely table.
Steve & Gary,

Thanks for the comments.  Did all the hard work in the Az shop.  Fitted it up and finished it in WA.

Guys & Gals,

Here are a few more pics.  Built the bottom tier in place, used a wood block to sand wood hole plugs down to appropriate thickness, attached top to base with Z-clips.  Was going to attach them but files too big.  Back later.

Great looking table.    Sorry for your work interruption.

Ron

Glad to hear you’re doing ok! Table looks great!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

OH, I am SO so glad to hear you're doing good.  Best wishes to you, I'll be thinking of you.

The table looks fantastic, great work, even through all the trauma...you managed to get a quality job completed.

Yolanda

Beautiful woods, design, and execution.  A gorgeous table, despite any interruptions.

Glad to hear you pulled through so well.  Been there, done that, no fun at all.

Huh? Whadaya mean it ain't "measure once cut twice"?

Yolanda & Mike,

Thanks for the comments.  Being in WA not as much shop work to do.  But finishing the job is about half.
