Made this Spalted maple frame for an 8-1/2“ x 11” oil on wood panel interpretation of Emily Dickinson’s, “Hope is the Thing with Feathers”. Since the frame was to be part of the painting, it was finished with a glaze of thinned oil paints. I think the spalt showing through the glaze provided an aged look fitting for the painting, but I definitely prefer naturally finished wood.

well done dan, frame fits the painting perfectly.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Good combination of art and frame.   Welldone.

Thanks Pottz! In this case color seemed appropriate, but I generally prefer the ”black and white look “ of lacquered spalt.

Nice job! I agree - the color choice works great!
Nicely done.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".
