Cigar Box Apothecary

Hey Guys, I think what makes me most happiest with this whimsical project is that I was able to build an apothecary cabinet without having to build all the drawers!

My kids used to like to colour, and there were markers everywhere.  Now they have one organized place to be.

I used up a bunch of scrap wood to make up the box frame.  Since I already had the cigar boxes, my dimensions had to begin from the inside and work outward.

I added little self stick felt foot pads at the back of the drawer so it has a nice soft sound as the drawers closes.  It still needed something to snaz it up, so it hit it with the flame torch followed by a few coats of gloss.  The knobs were just something I had kicking around, all came together nicely.

After having it kick around without the legs, it seemed like a natural progression, and now makes for a cute end table in my living room.

A surprisingly fun project.

Thanks for looking.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Defiantly a cool use for those! Well done.

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Neat idea. But wait… are you telling us that you just pull a knob, and a drawer just opens? You don’t have to twist one knob, pull another, use your left foot to trip a hidden lever underneath?
That’s  a very creative solution. I love the integration of the old cigar boxes into a piece of furniture. Well done!!!

Looks good! Interesting.
Nice use of the cigar boxes. And the cabin of course is also nice.

Haha. Thanks guys,
Lock the drawers?   Oh ya I thought about.  Sometimes there just isn’t enough hours in the day.
