Locked Coffee Table

Hey Guys, thanks for looking.

Coffee tables are a funny thing.  The right one can be a great add to your living space providing a function beyond a mere place to set your coffee cup.

I had made this when my kids were little and I didn’t want them touching ‘the matches or candles’.  It was fun keeping snacks stowed away since I was the only one that could get inside, lol.  

Also from the period when crackle paint finishes were the trend in folk art furniture.  Meh, I had to try it at least once.

I ended up putting a rail edge on the top so that pens wouldn’t roll off when opening the lid.   With the front dial system I made it so that each knob could be pulled out or pushed in, AND rotated 360 degrees.  When the correct alignment was input, the knob on the right end would pull out.  

It was a fun project, I might revisit it one day.
