Cigar Box Puzzle Kit

As an artsy I am always on the look out for opportunities to create something unique.

Having a wood recycling nature, I found these cigar boxes to be beautiful and purposeful.  That makes me very happy.

So I designed a puzzle that was going to have 4 different mechanisms, 2 now and 2 extra ‘expansion packs’ to follow next year.  All fit into a small range of different sized cigar boxes.  That is the puzzling component for me, is to design in flexibility with the mechanisms.  

A group of puzzle aficionados had me come to Houston this summer to run a workshop on how to build a puzzle from this kit.  

What makes this kit so unique is that other than one hole being provided, everything else must be ‘felt’ and thought through, just like what I would have to do.  I did hear many comments regarding a new appreciation for wood puzzle boxes.  

Due to the nature of this kit, I can only sell them as quick as I can find the right sized cigar boxes.

If someone wanted to check out puzzle making, this might be a first great experience.  Making those thin and tiny pieces is a whole other level of confidence and experience, but I bet most of you here could do this.  These kits are wonderful for exploring this craft without the huge investment in time and material in making a box first.  Perfect the mechanism, understand it, then make a box from scratch and ultimately it will turn out soooo much better.
