And another from that other place. This is the third gun box I've made. It was made in 2020 for a friend to go with his new Italian Perrazi shot gun.
While he wanted just a simple box, given the special nature of his shot gun, I decided it needed an equally special box. The marine plywood box is veneered on the outside with book-matched burl walnut to match his guns walnut stock.
Maple corners with a black-white-black string enhance the edges of the box with mother of pearl used for the escutcheon and the inserts on the drawer knobs.
The interior compartments and drawer layout were designed to fit the various tools and bits and pieces he already had for cleaning the gun.
The bottom drawer uses a variation of a 'Veritas Tool Chest Locking Spring Pin' that we made up to cater for the increased depth of the box. Stainless steel quadrant hinges, and a matching lock complete the hardware.
The logo on the outside is laser engraved, as is the information /owners plaque on the inside of the lid. The plaque is removable so future owners can add their details. It was fun tracking down the font used on the outside so it matched exactly that used on the gun.
The balancing veneer on the inside of the box is local Western Australian Jarrah. the inside has a small lift out tray, and two gun-supports which fit into slots at the sides of the box.
One being reversible to take either the barrel or the stock.
Perfection. If a fella had a stack of these at the "Grand" or many of the other larger Trap, and Skeet shooting state venues you could easily get $10.000.00 apiece for something like that, probably more from the Perazzi owners, seeing as you have it personalized their way. Those shooting guys are money crazy, and a fine working box like this would be a quick addition for a lot of them. If you were in a booth on the shooting line, you would run out of stock.
