Last one of these for a while

This is the last of this type box I’ll make until I figure out what to do with them. I made this one with 46 pieces and it’s my favorite so far. The problem I had with this one is the padauk sanding dust merged with the maple and turned it pink in spots. Before final sanding it looked sharp and had good contrast but now it looks a little blurry. I’ve run into this before when making projects with this wood combo, but sanding it on the lathe really caused the slurry and was much worse. Has anyone figured out a way to prevent this?

looks like you saved the best for last john.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Awesome detail ring!!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Really nice - no clue on the sanding bleed though, maybe an air blower to clear the slurry?
John, for me, this ones the winner. All have been great, but this would be the one I would want my Pot in, if I still smoked that is. :-)

Only thing I can suggest with that blasted Padauk is just use it with more Padauk, or maybe Ebony, certainly nothing light. It has such promise, but darned if that dust doesn't spoil the punch.
another very kewl vessel GR8 JOB 😍😎👍

I don't believe there is a glass in there.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Thanks Larry I agree, if you keep making the same type thing you should get better.

Thank you Ryan it’s my favorite part I just wish the maple stayed whiter.

Thanks Ron

Mike I did try air but no go and I also tried Alcohol and that made it really bleed.

Thank you George, I’m surprised you don’t partake, I was sure you were wearing some kind of redneck bong in your avatar

Thanks Tony

Thank you Jim

Duck, you got me. I was hoping no one would figure that out.

I'm not stewpid, you can't fool or hide it from me... I looked on the other side of my computer screen and still couldn't see any jars/glass!!!

I agree with everyone else - this is my favorite!

It could be in the wood choices.  Maple and walnut shouldn't do that.
A real fine scrape leaves a clean surface, sandpaper clogs it.

CAn't help ya with that.

Nice box!

You don't always get what you go after, but you do get what you wouldn't have got if you didn't go after what you didn't get. Blaze Foley
