My daughter is having her birthday and as part of her gifts, we bought her a nice bottle of Canadian wine called "Pink Ink" from Vintage Ink. Of course it needed that special box. So I made this box finger joint box out of Pine specifically for the wine.
The lid slides open very nice and snug so there's no rattling around. I placed clean shavings around the insides and bottom. When the lid is closed you can turn it upside down and nothing moves.
This is an end view showing one end, side, and bottom.
Here's one corner of the box finger joints.
This is what it looks like when closed. I'm still deciding if I should put one of my wooden ribbons on it that can be removed. I finished the box with one coat of 1 lb shellac and two coats of wood butter.
Thanks for looking!
Feel free to comment, ask questions and thumbs up 👍 if you like it!
987Ron Not sure about the wine but the box is good
Thanks. Funny you should say that Ron! My wife and I weren't sure so we bought two and drank one last night. Oh my it's good!! Good thing I made the box or the risk would be great we'd drink the one for my daughter too. LOL.
I think pine is underrated... May dent easily but presents well.
I'd opt without the ribbon... nice as a receiving gift, but while the box may have a practical use after vino consumption, the ribbon may (just my view) get in the way.
If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD
i must disagree with my charming friend who i live vicariously through, but since it's for a lady the wood bow would be something very special rick, so id do it man !
