Ya know .... sometimes foolin' around in the shop poking at different ideas has benefits. Here's some finger joints that I torched after leaving them proud, sort of like a Greene and Greene technique, then chamfered each finger.
All just fooling around.

I think box joints can look great when a bit "sweaty"

I like that you are always trying new things.

To be honest, the first thing with the silver does nothing for me.  However, I really like leaving them proud with the burn.

What I didn't divulge is they were shellacked first, dried, then burned. Sort of looks like a cheese burger hot off the grill. 😉

Nope. I actually chamfered each finger's edges with a file. It went real fast too.

Birdseye49... I agree the silver thing is not really my thing as well but it opens my mind to other possibilities.
I was surprised the fingers held up against the burning as well as they did and managed to stay proud of the surface. It also sort of created a highlight around each finger. 

Very good experiment.
