Mounting board

From time to time I watch videos from Acutabove made by Ken. During the construction of the various models he often uses a mounting board. I saw the advantages and made one for myself this afternoon. I had already ordered the steel ruler. Although it is a simple piece of equipment I think I can get a lot of use out of it.

In this video (start at 4:35) you can see how it is used

A good jig Dutchy. I think there are as many names for this as there are styles of them. I've seen several you tubes for making the perfect square clamping jig, board, table, corner, and most have a solid 90 corner, and on the open side use either solid pieces that are smaller corners, and clamped or screwed into place, or often an open configuration where the use of wedges is used to exert the closing pressure. Any and all of them can work, if in fact they maintain a good square corner, and most of them make you feel like you have grown extra hands. The more parts that are in play, the more helpful they seem to be.

I had never thought to use a metal corner. I do know you will remake the ones using a wooden corner, it seems after several uses the corners weaken when made of wood, and start to suffer at keeping 90*. Usually build time is fairly quick, so if it isn't square anymore, just remake it.
Great build Dutchy.  May sure you let Kenny know that you built this.  I use the same thing he does, a piece of laminated mdf and an aluminum straight edge held on by bench dogs or clamps.  I really like your design of this.  It's invaluable for laying out assemblies and making sure they are square.
Nice work on it. Looks like some thought went into it!!

I realized that I had made such a right angle jigs many times. But indeed from wood, and I threw it away every time.

Ken has got a mail with link.

I didn't really think about how to make it because honestly it's a copy. I did attach a measuring tape as an extra, but more because I still had it lying around.
