Nativity

A year ago I saw a similar nativity scene made by John Morgen. I made this one as a birthday present for my wife. It was clear to see that John was influenced by  Björn Köhler. But that Björn version is a bit more difficult than John's, so I chose the latter. It is made from types of wood that I had lying around and that I thought would be suitable. The arch with LED lights bow is approximately 60x30 cm. I don't do much woodturning but this was a good exercise for me.

What a beautiful nativity!  So nicely done.
nice nativity set dutch. what are the sizes ? looks like a lot of small pieces to do.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Very "crisp and clean" work, perfect abstract-ness too, really adds the cute factor!

The lighting is a cool addition.

You've certainly done a beautiful representation of the Nativity there Jan, thank you.

That is cute Dutchy... a lot of small turning/shaping... wow!

Having a closer look at the figurines, they'd make a great set of chess pieces.... though a camel for a knight might not have Garry Kasparov calling you mate... well maybe Dutch mate.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Lovely Nativity!   Excellent work.
