For Boxing Day this year, I plan to give the guy who cuts my hair a dustpan on a stick. This is it.
Once again, I put the pivot a bit too low (the handle can interfere with sweeping up bigger chunks, though that won’t be a problem for him, because he’s just sweeping up hair), and a bit too far forward (so it’s a bit difficult to get the dustpan sitting flat in the floor when you set it down).
Otherwise, this came out well. I’m happy with the brass screws contrasting with the white oak. I like the brass strip at the front of the pan so the wood doesn’t get chewed up in use, and it’s pretty good for a first try on that. And I’m happy with the magenta enamel I used in the bottom. And I’m especially happy with the piece of white oak I picked, as it had a lot of sapwood and knots and wasn’t much good for anything else, but it’ll be just fine for a dustpan, unless someone tries to sweep up some lead with it.
