Another Block in the Wall Puzzle

Hey Guys,

There is something fascinating about doors, maybe it’s the metaphoric portal, or maybe I love making doors that don’t need hinges.

Interesting side story, this puzzle box started as an f’ up.  The door didn’t work in the space the way I wanted for a larger project.  Often those bigger puzzles are made up of many smaller ones.  Instead of burning it, I built a quick frame around it and whammy, rework was never so easy!

This unique puzzle showcases some of the new tricks I found up my sleeve.  I wish I could share pics of the inside, but what you would see is a complex set of mechanisms, some are obvious from the outside, others less so.

I think the fun challenge here was to create a mechanism that was unlocked to begin with, but the 1st mechanism has to moved to the locked position in order to unlock a second mechanism.  Then you get to unlock the first mechanism that was already unlocked, lol.  Just to add a little more bang for the buck the 1st mechanism has a magnet in it that will drag and relocate the 2nd mechanism if you are not paying attention.  Fun right?

Now, the 3 dials on the bottom are super confusing since when you first explore it, you will find that all 3 turn endlessly.  However, only 2 of the 3 are important, as the third serves a support function inside.  Only by exploring the situation, limits and conditions will you learn how the dials work.

Once it’s complete I throw it up on Puzzle Paradise . net for a quick 7 day auction.  The site takes zero fees, great to have such a place that gets my work in front of those that want it.

I do enjoy making these little hardwood knobs.  I have videos I will try to post of how I make them form my offcuts.  Right now they are on TikTok only.

Anyways, thanks for looking guys!
