Dragon Chest Puzzle

Whew, what a journey, one might even call it a quest given the theme of this puzzle chest.

For me, this is my own testament to myself for following the creative path in life.

Folks have seen the fun and whimsical puzzle boxes I have posted here in the past.  In hindsight I can see that it was all practical exercise to get here.  For the most part, they were all just simple boxes with mechanisms.

With the dragon themed puzzle chest I have learned how to build a super complex puzzle where it is made up of smaller components that work with the other components within the larger structure.  Some of these components reach into other components making their solution a double win as it leads to the next parts, and so on.

One of the fun aspects of a creation that is theme based means I got to add a sword to the puzzle, making it a key that unlocks much, but where is that damned sword?  Well hidden I would guess.

Pretty sure I am living the life of Huckleberry Finn or Tom Sawyer had they never had to grow up.  I make stupid but awesome creations for big kids, and I wouldn’t change a thing.  If anyone wants to join this festive time in woodworking we are currently experiencing in this niche market, just reach out, I am happy to share how all this is done.  You folks have mad skills here, and nothing doubles the price as fast as a secret anything added to your art, just sayin.

If you want to see a video of the breakdown of the smaller sections, I will try to add a video link to instagram….
Thanks for looking guys!

Hey Guys, thank you.

Mr. Rick - This took me about 2 years to build.  Lots of time spent visualizing.
SplinterGroup - Ha, thank you kind sir.
987Ron, RyanGi, Peakplane, Birdseye49, Potzz, Earl, GR8HUNTER - Hey Thanks guys!
GaryG - Sorry, not on X, yet anyway.  I will see if i can put it up on the you tube.
WildBrianWood - My childhood was closer to that of Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn.
Little Black Duck - Yes indeed.  I have good friends that have tools I don't.  The original artwork of the blue dragon is done by a different artist friend.  Together we make amazing look easy.  Everything else is of my own insanity, lol.

Great overkill Kel, that looks amazing.
Wow!! Luckily (for us) you have chosen your diabolical skills be put to use for good rather than evil. 😁
Haha, hey thanks guys.  Honestly, this is what high end customers want.  They already have a room (sometimes many rooms) filled with smaller puzzles.  As I understand those that collect, everyone wants a grandmaster piece for right in the middle of the room.
What I didn’t share at the time is that they get to add some custom elelments to the design, help decide what kind of treasure to put inside AND there is a handwritten leather bound journal that sets the story and is filled with clues!
Who says you have to grow old?
