I built this Mud Room Hall Tree to help keep the mess out of the house. My wife really appreciated it. I had only a photo to work from so it took a little longer than it should have. The biggest challenge was figuring out all the dimensions for the components. I still need to trim it out (quarter round & base board) but I think it came out pretty good.
The coat hooks were found at Goodwill for $5 for all 6 versus $8 each at Lowe's. Saved a little money there. I used mostly pre-primed wood and construction wood for the seat. It was made in two parts - the bench and the back & top section. I used pocket screw assembly. This unit mounts to the wall but can be made as a free-standing unit.
