Size is about 120mm x 120mm with the base slightly larger. The plans were in Imperial so easy enough to execute with a good ruler.

Timbers - The lid is American Maple with Jarrah veneer. Corner posts are walnut with the same American Maple and Jarrah around the sides. The base corners are laminated with black veneer. All finished in satin Polyurethane sprayed on finish. The lid is shaped like a pyramid and takes time to shape. Best done by hand plane after removing the bulk with a band saw. Jarrah isn't the easiest wood to work with, it can be cranky and harsh on chisels and plane blades. The corner pillars are rebated 3/32" where the sides slot in. First one of these I made I cut the pillars to length before I rebated them.....oops message to self do it in one long piece "then" cut to length.

Fiddly but fun and a good result. A 60th birthday gift for a nephew.

Kerry - Working with wood, the smell the feel, is such a joy, its a meditation of sorts.
