Cutting Board

An expensive build having to buy Jarrah, Oak and Walnut but hey in the end I managed two boards (only one shown here) out of the timber purchased. I enjoyed the build. Took a bit longer than I anticipated however that's fine and I was pleased with the results as were my daughter and daughter in law.
The photos depict #2 build and you can see I've had to run two pieces of Tasmanian oak along the edge on two sides to make up a bit of distance and give the board more area. A pity in a way but still a solid hard wood to cut on. Both of them were burnished to finish and a light application of food friendly polish.

Love the 3D look Kerry
You’ve certainly done the timber justice

You should move to the States... all the Yankees seem to have plenty of free boards from that magical supplier they all seem to have and call the "scrap bin".

Timber costs a small big fortune in Victoria since the govermin banned logging and I can't even harvest my exotics from my property,

unless under cover of darkness and then it's too dangerous because of the wild critters.

If your first cut is too short... Take the second cut from the longer end... LBD

Nice pattern making a good looking board.

Ducky, I just couldn't let this go so
here's my scrap bin

and being a wealthy Yankee, I have 2 scrap bins - here's the second one

after looking at them, I see probably 100 or more pen blanks, maybe I should open a store  ?

Nice board/s I'm sure the Daughters appreciate them.
I'm sure it was the look, the contrast in the timber that first motivated me to have a go at one of these patterns. Thanks for all the comments gents.
Cheers
