Toy Shark With Moving Jaws

This was a Christmas gift for my oldest grandchild back in 2019. As with many of the toys I’ve posted, the plans come from the book “Animated Animal Toys in Wood” by David Wakefield.

The build follows the plans in the book with little modifications. I have a few build photos.

The body gets a dado cut to accept the fins before cutting the profile.

The tail top profile is cut after a few reference cuts are made in the side profile.

The fin piece is cut here.

A bottom view.

As with all these toys, the shark is fun to watch as his jaws bounce up and down as it rolls along.

Steve.. that's a great little toy!  My grandkids would love it. As it turns out I have that book. I may make one. Or should I say 3. Love it!! Nice job.

Nice, Steve! Does the shark say “rowr!” ?

May you have the day you deserve!

Thanks for the comments! Dave - I don't know, I don't speak shark 😁
Baby shark do do do do do…

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Slick toy for your grandchild, will become a keeper and maybe even passed on again.
Very fun. Makes one want to be a kid again.
Really cool Steve.  Don't think I've ever seen a shark one!
Very cool...well done!

Mike

Cool toy!!!!

On wheels AND it makes noise!!!!!!!! A sure hit with any kid (and a few adults). There's a lobster pattern out there that would go well with your shark.

Some of my most creative moments have been when I've had to cover up an error in my woodworking.

Thanks for the comments!

Super Joe - that lobster was one of the first ones my grandson asked for. It's a hoot to watch move!
