Cigar pens

Made sever Cigar pens in the last couple days in between other woodwork.
The dark wood is Sapele. It’s turned with a skew, then burnished with shavings before getting a lite CA finish and waxed. I wanted the wood to look natural rather than glossy.

This morning, I did this one in old growth heart pine. The wood is from an old home built around 1870 from a tree milled on site back then. It’s brittle and chippy, so it’s been skewed, sanded, MM’ed, CA’ed and waxed.

Turning this wood crosscut is always an adventure.
The pine is very spectacular.   Both pens look good.

Ron

look great gary, especially the grain on the pine.

working with my hands is a joy,it gives me a sense of fulfillment, somthing so many seek and so few find.-SAM MALOOF.

Both are really nice. The pine seems extra special since you know the history of the wood itself.  I love the meaning that adds to a project.
Nice pens! You did a good job on the photos too.
Put me on team pine! Real character.
Although I do like the color tone of the sapele with the natural surface.
The grain is spectacular!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Those pens are stunning!
