Talking Stick

When communication breaks down, we can pull out the “talking stick.” Whomever holds the stick gets to talk, everyone else listens.

We are several years away from being able to use this for that but until then it’s just a block of Balsa that I used to practice relief carving the names of my 4 boys.

How's the trips doing?

Not great 😢
Nice carving work and a cool idea!
That looks even better than the early pictures you shared.  Nice!

I know I said this when you shared early pictures but just remember to tell whoever is holding the talking stick that it is not to be used as a whacking stick.

trips?
FOUR sons? Last I saw you had one child? I must've missed the memos. Congrats, in any event...and nice talking stick.

You have a real talent for carving. Nicely done!
Cool carving, and what better way to do carving, than to carve important things to yourself.
Thank you all.

The triplets arrived early. Very early. All boys.

Still 2-3 months before they come home from the hospital.
Dev,

XOXO  - you must like hugs and kisses.

I like the names.

Triplets!? Holy smokes! Hoping for the best for their and your health!

Fantastic Devin!  Hope all goes well with the triplets and that they’re home beating each other with it soon 😉
Fingers crossed.

… and yes, hugs and kisses was intentional
What I really want to know is what sort of science experiment is in that jar behind it  😉

It’s an off-cut from a spider tree that is “hydroponically” being prepared for soil

As others said, great idea! Your carving of the names looks really good, and I like the handle shape.
Thanks! I carved the handle shape by hand using a Pinnacle 151-1/2 radius spokeshave, and a FlexCut draw knife to round over the edges
