Interior barn door

This has been on the back burner for some time. Too many other projects took priority.
However, the big project—expanding Lil SWMBO’s barn—can only be done while at the farm.
Having knocked out the dock bench seating, this seemed like the perfect filler for the several days back in the Treasure Coast.

This baby is 84” X 28” X 1-1/4” thick air dried Florida Cypress with 3/8” thick shiplap panels of cypress. The frame is mortise and tenon; the bottom panel has double tenons.
I’ve just completed all the final cleanup and will be putting a clear finish. Probably going with Cabot’s clear exterior protective sealer. This will bring out, but not change, the natural colors.

Nice door. That ought to last forever!!!!!!!!! It reminds me I need to make a new one for my shed. I wish I had Cypress in Michigan.

Well done door.   Love the wood.

That cypress is really nice! Great project.
Thanks y’all.
I turned some IPE  and put them into the tenons. I applied the finish and hope to hang the door tomorrow.
Well, I’m slightly disappointed—the barn door hardware is going to cover all or most of the top ipe pegs.

Unless I offset the hardware

Methinks it looks too odd near the edge.
C’est la vie.
Didn’t use the door guide supplied for the floor.
Mrs wants me to make one—outta wood. 😉
Make her one of these and claim you thought that's what she meant by guide.
Great door.  Lots of strength there too.  I really think you hit a home run.

Once you've gone this far, might as well finish strong! Guessing your version will be much nicer.
