James... it's a 3/4" wide, 6 - 7 TPI chunk of bandsaw blade. Pretty big teeth. Yes larger teeth will fit no problem. I have the blade placed to cut on the push but you can place either way.
Bow saws are for cutting green lumber like branches and logs. I've cut rough 2x4s with it but really to do so requires some caution because the teeth are so big and the starting has to be very light at first and slow. For lumber I use a rip or crosscut panel saw. I also made a kerfing saw with a piece of this same blade as an attachment for my Stanley 45 hand plane. Once I make a kerf I switch to a panel saw.
Yeah I've seen it ... he had a finer tooth blade on it. 10 or 12 tpi. Frank is an exceptional woodworker and capable of using tools that most lack the skill.
SplinterGroup I like the ability to repurpose old bandsaw blades. Have plenty to choose from!
I like to do so as well. I've made all kinds of tools using pieces of bandsaw blades. I usually buy a bandsaw blade in the clearance section that only costs me $6 or $7 and get alot out of it.
