Barn Quilt

Hi Guys,

I had some left over pine off cuts from a project last summer and either it was time to build with them or burn them, lol.

So, this was a lot of fun to make and not terribly hard. Well....

It was supposed to be the backsplash behind my stove but I made it too big, now it hangs on the wall, a reminder to measure twice, lol.

If you haven't made one before, you play with the pieces pre-glue, making sure you got what you want.  Then you decide your stain pattern and then stain the loose pieces.  I only stained about 1/4" down the edges of the pieces as I wanted the glue to adhere well when assembled.

Adding a row of barnboard around the edge was a fun touch to add.

Really pretty. I like the color combinations you used. Are these thin pieces attached to plywood? The glueup stage looks daunting to me!!
Great looking.  All goes well together.     Well done

Ron

You know I really like those geometric patterns!

Seems easy on paper but getting all the parts sized correctly can be a challenge, any errors stack up.

Looks great with the colors and woods, the closer one looks, the more details emerge. Getting fractal!

Good looking wall hanging! Nice design!!!

Awesome!

Ryan/// ~sigh~ I blew up another bowl. Moke told me "I made the inside bigger than the outside".

Hey thanks Guys,
BB1 -  they are full 3/4" pine with no plywood base.
Splinter Group - Not very hard really, its all 45 degree angles.  Start from the middle and make slight sanding adjustment as you go.  Each time I go around as a layer, I sand the edge on the belt sander so the next layer goes on nice.

Beautiful work. Very precise cutting and assembly.
Hey thanks guys, this was surprisingly easy to make.  I may take another stab at it and will take better notes to share for next time.
